A recital to celebrate his return to Japan will be held at Toppan Hall in Tokyo on June 21st.
I have been on five concert tours to Norway since 2022. This time, I will be presenting Grieg's piano works, the melancholy Ballade in G minor and Norwegian Dance Op. 35, full of original Norwegian melodies. Both pieces are not often seen in piano recitals, but they are wonderful pieces! In the second half, Lachenmann is a leading figure in German contemporary music. I will be playing Variations on a Theme by Schubert, one of his earliest works. I would definitely like to incorporate contemporary works in my recitals in the future. Beethoven's Bagatelle is a piece that I have played many times in Germany, in a set with the Hammerklavier Sonata. Schumann's Carnival is a work full of Schumann's charm, and it is no exaggeration to say that Schumann cannot be discussed without this piece. My beloved Brahms is not included in the program this time, but the people surrounding Brahms mean that the main program will be Schumann and Beethoven, who I love equally. We look forward to seeing you there!
